Carbon Upcycling Technologies (CUT) has devised a process to produce advanced solid material additives from CO2 emissions and cheap solid feedstock. Through proprietary, patent-pending technology, CUT can chemically adsorb CO2 emissions into exfoliated solid feedstock to create a portfolio of fine, nanoparticles such as graphitic nanoplatelets (GNPs), graphene oxide (GO), graphene quantum dots (GQDs), and enhanced fly ash (EFA). The produced nanoparticle powders have technically-validated applications as additives in the plastics, coatings, epoxy, adhesives, concrete, lithium-ion battery industries. The company commercialized the use of its GNPs in a corrosion-resistant coating in 2017, becoming the youngest CO2 utilization company to generate commercial revenue, less than 2.5 years since inception. In April 2018, CUT was announced as one of the 10 global NRG COSIA Carbon X-Prize finalists and is one of only 3 companies in the Finals with commercial product lines derived from CO2.
